5 Tips to Grow Your Personal Brand on Social Media

  1. Start posting, often.

People like to learn from others and see what one another is up to. I personally enjoy watching the daily lives of others on social media and seeing things like, “what I wear to work,” or “ meals I make for dinner from Trader Joe’s.” They are often things you are already doing, but just not posting about. Start off easy by posting Instagram stories, they are a less-permanent way to share about yourself.

  1. Use hashtags

They might seem cheesy or maybe something your mom would use on her Instagram, but hashtags do the job. Hashtags can easily wrap up what the post is about, and share your post with people who are looking for that specific content. Popular hashtags are popular for a reason and can help your post gain attention.

  1. Know what you want your brand to look like

Your aesthetic can be your niche. You can keep it simple and use a specific filter for every post, or delve deeper and keep a consistent theme for your posts. Whatever you choose, your personal brand should be consistent. If you post your morning coffee every day, you can keep doing this even if you switch to tea or matcha. Even though that is a smaller example, it can be applied to all posts needing consistency.

  1. Respond to your followers

As you are starting out growing your brand, audience engagement is key. Responding to comments, story replies, or questions in direct messages are all ways to show our followers you care about them.

  1. Post content you are proud of

Social media doesn’t need to be serious, but it should be something you won’t regret posting.
